Android 2.3 Tech Advancement

Most of us expected that the new Android phone is the announced gingerbread update, but how it turns out the Gingerbread update is a small update that will be known as Android 2.3. Android 3.0 according to tech rumors circulating around the net will actually be Honeycomb. So the 2.3 Android OS update or the Gingerbread can actually be announced and released in the next few days. As far as the latest October official update goes we can expect to see the new 3.0 OS for Android titled Honeycomb around Christmas.

So the question here is what we can expect from the new 2.3 or even 3.0 Android OS update. On the Android site it was announced that the new updates are mostly noticeable in the graphic design change and that branding will be more noticeable, whatever they mean by that. There will be new icon animations, a new look for YouTube and even Google Talk and Google Voice integration.

New Android 3.0 will probably have restrictions of use limited only to top of the line handsets and they will require a minimum of 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM, and a bit larger screen displays than most smart phones have. Support for WebM playback was also confirmed as well as VP8 compressed video codec that Google acquired a few months back.

We have to admit that there are plenty of new features announced and rumored so it's hard to tell which ones are true and which aren't, but fans of Android will surely have a few things to look forward to, like the new user interface. What Android models can we expect to emerge with 3.0 OS? So far we are hoping for the rumored Galaxy S I9200 which is supposed to have a 4.3 inch display featuring high resolution, but we may see it before that in the new Samsung Galaxy S2 and probably Nexus Two.
